Struggling with finding a morning routine? Here are some tips to start the day off right!
“Each morning we are born again. What we do today matters the most.”
- Buddha
Do you feel like you are constantly “starting over” with your healthy lifestyle? It could be because you are lacking a routine. By definition, a routine is a standard or regular way of doing something and it’s often repeated. By adding a wellness routine, you are adding structure to your daily schedule, which can go a long way in reaching your goals when you are trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
A wellness routine with structure will add positivity to your good days because you will feel accomplished and in tune with your body! Better yet, a wellness routine will support you on your BAD days because you know that these certain activities will make you feel better and feel in control! Each day when you wake up knowing what will put you in the best mindset to tackle your day, you are more likely to stay consistent and reach your goals! Here are some Morning Wellness Routine Ideas to get you started!
- Stretch -
Before you hop out of bed, try this good morning stretch: Reach your arms above your head, stretch your legs out as straight as you can, and expand your rib cage with a deep inhalation. As you exhale, relax. Give your wrists and ankles a roll, and then get out of bed. This will improve the blood circulation in your body and help you wake up!
- Hydrate -
Want to make sure you’re drinking enough water each day? Drink a tall glass of water as soon as you get out of bed. I like to fill my Stanley cup with ice and cold water and put it in my bathroom counter the night before. Then the next morning, I take several glugs before I brush my teeth and continue to sip as I am putting on my makeup. This simple habit can make it easier to hit your hydration goals.
- Meditate -
This is something you can do while stretching and drinking your H20! This can literally take one minute or it can be three to five minutes! This will help you calm your mind and your body to feel more balanced. We tend to feel rushed in the morning and throughout the day so allowing this to be apart of your morning routine will start the day off on a positive note!
- Get a Workout In -
Not only can a workout in the AM set a healthy tone for the whole day, but it may also improve attention and decision-making skills, which can boost your productivity. Now, I am not one who can get up and workout every single morning, so I pick 1-2 days out of the week that I do commit to this. Again, balance. I like to tackle a workout on my long days because I know I won’t have motivation in the evening. So if I get up and smash it out before my long day even starts, then it is complete and I can relax in the evening!
You are more likely to stick with exercise that you enjoy, so schedule a workout you’ll actually look forward to. That might be something low-impact like yoga, a barre class or even a brisk walk around your neighborhood! Utilizing a program that is trainer-led is helpful as well because all you have to do is roll out of best and press play. If it’s accountability that you need, which is someone who is expecting you to show up for you workout, find a friend who will workout with you! That friend could be your neighbor, a coach or even a family member! Click here to learn more about joining a community of women who keep each other all accountable!
- Eat Breakfast -
When you head to the fridge in the morning, it can be tempting to grab the first thing you can get into your stomach or skip breakfast all together! Instead, choose a healthy breakfast with a balance of protein, healthy fat, and complex carbohydrates to keep you energized until lunch. I totally understand if you aren’t normally a breakfast person, but there are so many benefits to having something in your system before your day starts. It doesn’t have to be a heavy meal. Each morning after I drink my water, I start my day with a delicious, superfood shake that is packed with protein, vitamins and minerals! It’s light and tasty! Plus I know that I am my daily dose of nutrients at the start of my day! Click here and scroll down to learn more about superfood shakes!
